Local Area

The nearby Suffolk Coast is a 50 mile stretch of heritage coastline, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is a wildlife lover’s paradise and a photographer’s dream. The towns and villages on The Suffolk Coast are wonderfully varied.

The attractive riverside town of Woodbridge provides a wealth of leisure and retail activities, with sailing, cinema and theatre, excellent restaurants and bars, clothes shops and food retail. Visit the Market Hill, a great opportunity for some serious retail therapy before relaxing with a frothy latte and a slice of cake in one of the gorgeous little independent coffee shops. There is a weekly market on market hill every Thursday from 8am and at the Community Centre by the river, there is a fortnightly farmers market.

Walk along the path by the river and see England’s last working tide mill at The Tide Mill Living Museum, followed by an ice cream sitting outside the Riverside Restaurant. Nearby Snape Maltings is a place of energy and inspiration, one of the world’s leading centres of music and a visitor destination of outstanding natural beauty. It brings together outstanding concerts and events, distinctive independent shops, cafés, galleries and walks.

Other local attractions include:

The Suffolk Punch Trust, Jimmy’s Farm, Africa Alive, Sutton Hoo, Framlingham Castle, Woodbridge Golf Club, Seckford Golf Club, Rendlesham Forest, Easton Farm Park and Orford Castle, to name but a few.
